Licensing images

Uses. We license images for any use, including advertising, corporate, promotional, editorial illustration in magazines and books, web, media, presentations, decor, and retail products.

Delivery. All our 35mm images are available as pre-scanned high resolution digital files, up to 3700 x 5500 pixels (12 x 18 inches at 300dpi).  Our medium-format images are available at up to 9000 x 9000 pixels (30" x 30" at 300dpi).  Both formats are generally available by email or download within a couple of hours after the order is received. Unless specified otherwise, images will be transmitted in Adobe RGB or Grayscale, saved as high quality (Photoshop 9) jpeg. For substantial orders, original negatives or transparencies might be shipped upon special request.

Rights. Like many providers of high quality images geared to the discriminating photo buyer, we specialize in rights-managed licensing to guarantee you the limited use of each image. We maintain a record of uses of each image in our photo library. All images are registered with the US Copyright Office. None appear in royalty-free CDs. In general, we charge one-time use fees which depend on the actual usage, but we can arrange for any type of license to meet your needs.

Quotes. For a quote, provide as much detail as you can. This is important because if we do not have enough information, we would assume that you require more general rights, resulting in a higher quote. Please contact us with the following information:

  • Name/Organization
  • Contact phone number/e-mail address
  • End use of piece/Name of client
  • Usage type/Size/Placement
  • Circulation/Distribution/Duration
  • Requested rights/Other uses

Payment. Licensing contracts can be paid by check or major credit cards via PayPal. We do accept purchase orders. Payment can be made up to 30 days after the date of the invoice, and prior to publication.

Licensing terms. The image will be licensed for a specific use. Unless agreed otherwise, you will be required to provide a credit line (or link, in the case of web use).
